Mandee's Misfits, Inc. shares a founder with NFS and a vision of access to care and mental health tools for all. In this spirit, Mandee's Misfits trains Psychiatric Service Animals and Emotional Support Animals. Some of these animals are brought in by clients and some are rescued and trained for an individual in need. Due to their contribution to the mental health field and in providing access tools to the public, NFS works hand-in-hand.

In order to have an Emotional Support Animal, the law requires that you have a letter from your ongoing therapist. While Emotional Support Animals are not required to have specific training by law, the therapists at NFS require it in order to provide the needed letter (as it is their liability and license at risk by providing said letter) and this is where Mandee's Misfits comes in. This is not task based, as required for Service Animals under ADA, but instead obedience and possibly the AKC Canine Good Citizenship Title to ensure the animal is safe and well behaved in public and therefore not causing additional stress to the individual they are supposed to be supporting.

Under ADA, Service Animals require no such documentation, but instead are required to perform tasks that directly assist the individual with a disability. While they do not need a letter from an NFS professional, many clients would benefit from a Service Animal and Mandee's Misfits are often able to pair up an individual and an animal.

In accordance with applicable laws and in keeping with the Americans with Disabilities Act, NFS and Mandee's Misfits attempt to provide the needed resources for tools that ultimately provide access to individuals in need.
